Eight Dollar Bathroom Touch Up

Of course there are many more things to do to improve this bathroom....like a frame around the mirror and a nice backsplash.... but we must keep budget in mind at this point in our lives. This is our main bathroom and as you can see it is not very large. My wonderful husband took some scrap wood and built me this cute little ladder, we threw some black paint on it and scuffed the edges. The pictures above the potty were stored in my closet, I picked them up a long time ago for 4 dollars at a liquidation centre and the shower curtain was on sale for 8 dollars....adds a touch of funky. As you can see this room really doesn't lend itself to any one style but I feel it didn't turn out too bad considering I shopped in our home for items and the only cost was the 8 dollars for the curtain.

Aqua, Yellow and Green

It all began with this pretty little aqua pot, and the color had me hooked...I know many have used it for a long time and of course a popular color in the 50's..

You see we have this mossy green sofa (see post below) and I have always had a hard time adding color with it, well at least color that I like. I am loving the bits of aqua and yellow and feel that they live in harmony with this sofa that I must keep for at least a couple more years....uggg! My 21 year old neice was visiting during a break from University and I welcomed a fresh set of eyes and she is one decor diva and a great DIYer. She pulled this end table together for me, I really can't take much credit, she covered a couple of old icky books in this beautiful scrapbooking paper and the lamp was a $2 yard sale find that I threw a burlap shade on. Im really enjoying these soft calm colors.

Springing up the living room...Wow Us Wednesday Party

I love to change things around anytime of the year, I guess you could say I'm just a tad obsessed but I will just call this my spring spruce up....

Took down the dark grey curtain panels, and added the black and white floral panels that I stold from my dining area. They brighten up the room and added some much needed pattern, I really love them in this room.

As you can see I also have a love for white throw blankets, I have two in this small room...they always feel so bright and fresh.

The round pillow on the green chair is new....found it on a clearance shelf and just had to have it....adds a touch of prettiness!

The floating shelf also got a spring makeover, the plant pot is new..... love this color...it is a soothing color. The rest of the things I just found around the house......simple look for the spring!

GREEN WITH ENVY....

We all feel and see color in different ways, for the past five years one of my favorite colors has been GREEN. It can be warm, cool, relaxing, energizing and just completely AWESOME!!! Many rooms in our home has green of some shade or tone, it may be just a couple accessories but it always manages to make me smile and gives me a happy feeling. Picture a fresh picked green apple, that is one of my favorite shades of green. What is your favorite color and how does it make you feel?

COFFEE FILTER WREATH....LOVE IT!!!

Wish I could take credit for this fantastic idea....but I actually stumbled across a great blog called http://thelittlebrownhouse.us/ if you haven't been to visit, its a must, so many great ideas....FANTABULOUS BLOG!!! My neice was home on reading week from University and even though she is only twenty her and I are both obsessed with home decor.....love when she comes home!!!! We decided to take on this project and we are both very pleased with the outcome. We decided to do a fourteen inch wreath and spent our saturday night building these beauties. She will hang hers when she returns home...as for me, I couldn't hang it fast enough. The wreath found its home above my night table (cabinet) and yes I should have hid my lamp cord for pictures...oh well its real life living. It was a fun project, thanks to The Little Brown House

The Weird Nooks in our Homes

However we did make very good use of our nook, we call it the tv nook. That being said, it took me a while to get it where I wanted it. I will show you the before pictures and the final addition to this nook.

At one time, we did have a floating shelf above the stand, but that one kept falling off. This shelf was a stash that I picked up a while back, meant for another wall but didn't work. The candle holders were bought on clearance....fantastic steal!!!! at 5.99 each. So the update on the tv nook was done by shopping in our own home, so tweaking will be in order. Yahoooooooooooo something that keeps this brain busy, I love things I can physically change around myself. The photo is from my 17 year old daughter she took for class, it was taken from our back deck. She framed it and gave the photo to me....what a sweetie!!

Night Stands..not always a night stand

This is my favorite cabinet, it was a 10 dollar yard sale find that we painted. On the right hand side of my blog, you will see we did use it as a tv stand, which was perfect until DH wanted a larger tv. No way was it leaving this house, so now it sits on my side of the bed. I love the storage it gives me, not to mention all the space on top. I still need to make changes to the decor on top.....(another thing on my to do list.) I have also considered moving the mirror above the cabinet.

I like to use peices in places that they were not always intended for.

TAKE A PICTURE

Just one post below you will see my bathroom post "shoe string budget" well after looking at the pictures for a bit, something was not feeling right to me. If you take pictures of your decor it can really help you see what may not look right to your eye. So at 1:30 in the morning, im in the washroom making the changes, thank goodness that 2 dollar wall decal can be repositioned.

Its hard getting bathroom pictures when a bathroom is small, but in the one picture you will see the shower curtain in the mirror (rod must be replaced) but that curtain has been inspiration for the room. There is still much to do to bring this bathroom from boring builders, my next thing is to frame the mirror out...ah just never ends.

A touch of decor on a SHOE STRING BUDGET

Two post back I spoke about getting motivated, well Im really trying. We all know times are tough and I don't know about everyone else but doing anything big or not so big in our home is pretty much out of the question at this point in our lives. So I shopped at the dollar store, my linen closet and around the house to add some touches to this boring bathroom, I warn you, its not fancy smancy and some may even see it as tacky, but heck it cost me a big TWO BUCKS, for this wall decal. However, a few months back we did paint the walls a soft grey. Is it my decorated dream bathroom...HECK NO!! but i do like the small added touches.

A little motivation! LIVING ROOM

This has been a challenging room as its like a bowling alley, long and narrow. There was a couple changes made before christmas. The walls were BM butter cream, now they are BM Riveria Pewter, a nice soft grey and of course the wall paper behind the tv no longer looked so great with the new color so we also hung new wall paper (not sure about the paper, reminds me of spirograph art from my childhood)

Today I moved the chair from the corner (where the sticks are now but not staying) replaced gold curtain panels with charcoal grey, added a floor lamp at the end of the sofa (christmas gift) and a new table lamp on the soon to go end table or makeover.....love my new lamps!!!

Then there is that dreaded wall over beside my horrid but much needed chair, hung a mirror that we bought in 1983, but the wall was too boring so I added a wall tattoo around the mirror and oddly enough the wall tattoo has the same colors in it as the wallpaper.

If you look a little further down, you will see in my one post a pine hutch in our eating area, that got a paint job and is now being used as our tv stand and the one that the tv was sitting on (see side pic) is now beside my bed

I still have alot tweaking to do, but at least I have started.....there was a time when I would tweak constantly and hopefully my OCD tweak will come back

I NEED A KICK IN THE BEHIND

Once again another holiday has come and gone, gosh they just come and go faster and faster as the years pass. I have so many rooms that need attention and I have only accomplished a bit of decluttering. Come this summer, we will be in this house 4 years and I still feel as though I have not pulled off a homey comfy feel. However, I did manage to get some decluttering done and now Im at a stop again lol Wow, someone needs to give me a shove, does anyone have any pick up a go to share? I could really use some.

I hope the next time I write, I will actually have something to share, or shall I say something accomplished.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am thrilled to see that Nate Berkus has his own show. I have only watched one part of an episode, but so far, Im loving what the show offers...so many fantastic ideas!!! Nate is not only a fabulous designer but is a very compassionate giving person, I can't say enough good about him.

Im really hoping with summer coming to an end,( hopefully the craziness will) I will do more blogging. I may have a couple of furniture makeovers to share, but other than decluttering I haven't had much time for anything else. So many things going on in both my husbands family and mine, I guess that is just all part of life.

If anyone is a fan of Nate's and has seen his show, I would love to know what you think.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOO FELLOW BLOGGERS!

WOW!!! It has been so long since I have sat down and taken the time to add a new post, my poor blog has been so neglected. However, I have been stopping in off and on and checking up on my favourite blogs which always adds a smile to my face. As you know life just gets so crazy at times, we all have those times when even the things we love to do become hard to tackle. I have not been doing too much in the way of home decor but im pushing to get myself motivated again. You see, we purchased this home almost three years ago and I have been having a hard time making it feel like home, but im trying, as I need to give it an honest effort as it could just be this phase in our lives. I found this cabinet on Kijiji with the intentions of painting it, that hasn't happened yet but I did still go ahead and accessorize it and if you look in the mirror you will see, I finally got curtains on the patio doors....NO MORE BLINDS, YIPEEEEE!!! A couple of my girl friends like the cabinet as is and have been encouraging me to just change the hardware, so we will see. Hope everyone is well and decorating up a happy storm, im certainly going to do my best to stop by and visit my blogging friends.

LOVE MY NEW COMFORTER!!!

I hope everyone had a great New Years!!! Now that another Christmas has come and gone and we now have rang in the year 2010..WOW!! time sure does fly. I remember when dh and I were dating in the 70's and we would talk about the year 2000, it seemed so far away and we would chuckle about how old we would be (ancient, so we felt) and we were convinced sidewalks would be moving like escalators and life would pretty much be like living in the world of the Jetsons. Well here we are 2010 and we don't have our moving sidewalks and robots to clean and cook for us...DAM!

Anyhoo, I had a great christmas, spent lots of time with friends and family and eating until I was ready to burst and was also showered with some awesome gifts, spoiled I would say.

Im not planning much in the New Year for any major decor, but I always like to spruce up each room or juggle things around, LOVE TO TWEAK!!!! I wasn't in need of a new comforter, however, I was given this BEAUTIFUL comforter for christmas from dh and the girls and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I don't have the room pulled all together as of now, but I thought I would share where im heading with this little mini makeover. I promised dh that I would cut back on throw pillows, and thats okay Im all for less work. I will only be using these two decorative pillows (which were already here) ....easy peasy! The bench was made by a man in our area, he was making them to earn extra monies for xmas, love the rustic touch and purchased it with birthday money and of course a picture of the new comforter. When I am done all my tweaking, I will post a picture of the room and of course Im still working on the bathroom getting painted, again another inexpensive way to give a room a new look. I would love to hear about your plans for 2010.

SAYING GOOD-BYE IS NEVER EASY!!!

Our much loved furbaby Sandy crossed over the rainbow bridge today, once again he is healthy and happy. He was the most devoted, gentle, caring furbaby that ever came into our lives. He was 14 years old and became ours 13 years ago, he gave us the best 13 years anyone could ask for. Our hearts are breaking and we miss him dearly and only time can heal us.

Sandy we love you with all our hearts and thank you for the joy you have given us for so many years, we will miss your pit pattering around the house and dragging a sock to the door when you wanted out, I will even miss hiding the garbage when we go out and I will ecspecially miss you sleeping at my feet or beside my chair and always listening to my ramblings when it was just you and I home. Tears will become less but you will live forever in our hearts.

Wow, how the years seem to fly by so quickly, it seems like you just pack away the christmas decor and its time to pull it out again. I have been a really bad blogger lately, so i figured it was time to make a post. I do try to stop in and read once and while, but always seems i'm on the run and never get back to leave a comment. Our oldest daughter was home from college last weekend to celebrate my birthday and decorate the christmas tree, its been a tradition for years. I would say they did a pretty good job. I remember the days when the girls would decorate the tree and all the ornaments were in clusters and mom would rearrange after they were fast asleep. I haven't been doing much in the way of home decor, but im sure the bug will bite after xmas. I do have a painting project, the cabinet that the christmas display is sitting on in my header is getting painted. I hope everyone is doing well.

BORING BUILDER BATHROOM....

They Never Out Grow Halloween

As i have mentioned before our three girls are teens, ages 16,17 and 18 and they never seem to outgrow the fun of dressing up for halloween, decorating or carving pumpkins and oh of course roasting the pumpkin seeds. This SPOOKTACULAR show is compliments of our three girls and a boyfriend. I would say they have put together a great scene for all the little trick or treaters tomorrow night. What Color Makes You HAPPY??

I was browsing around the store when my eye was stolen by the COLOR of this HUGH shiney solid glass green apple. Some may question, "why would you want a HUGH faux apple sitting as part of your accessories". For me, it was a few different reasons, one Im normally a color phobic person but this is one color that I have always loved, secondly it adds whimsey to the room which prevents the room from becoming too serious and last but most importantly it makes me feel HAPPY. I am by no means a designer, but I have heard when you want to inject just a bit of your favorite color, do it in threes. I had the blanket already, so i added it to my chair which is soft and cuddley for the cool months ahead, now I will look for a bowl for the shelf on the other side of the room. Please share with me how you use color and what color makes you HAPPY.

A COUPLE PHOTOS TAKEN AT THE CABINS

Its 1am and for some reason major insomnia has kicked in, darn its frustrating, ecspecially when i need to be up early as we have to leave town for an appointment at the college my daughters going to attend. It has been a crazy busy summer, I have tried to stop in and read some blogs here and visit my favorite forum House and Home, but that is about as far as it gets. We just returned home from a 3 night stay at a rental cabin, it was a great time and the first time we were able to get away this summer, aww it was so relaxing! I miss reading what all my blogger friends are doing, i bet i have missed so many fun and exciting blogs. I would like to thank everyone that has stopped by to visit me while I have been gone, I really love your visits and soon I will get over to visit your blogs. Two of our daughters return to school Tuesday and our oldest moves into her dorm on the 6th of September, so hopefully things will quiet down a bit so I can do some serious blogging. In the mean time, I send out a big HELLO to all and hope everyone is having a safe fun summer.

MY OWN LITTLE CORNER

I am a firm believer that we all need our own little space where no others can invade our bubble. In our home (which is rather small) every inch is occupied, so this corner is my own space, mine, ALL MINE!!! lol I have many ideas for this corner but budget just won't allow those ideas to put into play at this time, so with the inspiration I gained from reading over at Angela's blog called "ImagineCozy" (you can link to her blog from my list at the right hand side) I feel I did a achieve my special corner. As you can see in the before picture the corner lacked coziness and felt so uninviting. Off shopping I went, "yep" shopped in my own house and came up with these items with the exception of the cream drum stool that sits under the old sewing table, I decided to return the blue\green one when I fell in love with this little cream drumstool, the detail on this little baby just told me I had to have it. Even though I wasn't able to do what I had originally planned for this corner, I must say that im pretty happy with how it turned out and rather proud of myself for not spending a dime to do it, actually I came out ahead when I returned the blue/green drum stool as the new one was half the price. My corner is now an inviting cozy spot for me to visit, read, watch tv, blog and just sit and have a quiet moment.

BENCH IS DONE!!

The previous post below shows the before of this little freebie stool, which I believe actually belongs to a sewing table. We didn't do anything fancy as you can see. A quick slap of paint (left over from tv cabinet) and some new fabric. (total cost around 3 dollars) Our entrance is long but very narrow, we had no where to put a seating spot so our visitors could sit to put on thier shoes. Its not an obstacle in the entrance as this section of the entry opens to the living room. In between the closet and the garage door was about 20 inches and the stool fits perfect.

YOU WILL SEE A TINY BIT OF A WALL STICKING OUT, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT WALL IS WHERE THE TV STAND IS, GIVES YOU AN IDEA ON HOW CLOSE THE LIVING ROOM IS TO THE ENTRY.

I AM AT IT AGAIN!! a mini project

The old stool already for a makeover

We have a very narrow entrance and I have been trying to find something for our guest to sit on while putting thier shoes on. Being narrow isn't the only challenge, we also have two doors in this entrance, one is a coat closet the other is the door to the garage, so the only available space is a little bit of a wall in between these two doors as you can see in the picture above. So when dh asked if i wanted this old stool that was just going to be tossed in the garbage, I couldn't have been more thrilled. ITS A PERFECT FIT!!! wahooo!! Stay tuned, in a couple more days the makeover should be complete.

A happy belated Canada's Day to my Canadian blogger friends and a happy belated 4th of July to my American blogger friends. I celebrated on the first of July and had a great day that ended with watching the beautiful fireworks.

Im not a hugh fan of lots of ornaments in our home, (call me the lazy duster) but I have a few things that I enjoy in our space, after all I think things personalize a space and add a homey feeling. I removed the end table from the end of the sofa and added this shelf to house these items. I now have an area to play around with on my bored days, im sure it will constantly see changes, the shelf has been in the corner for two weeks and Im still not done. Summer tends to be a busy time, and I may not get here as much, as Im sure many won't, but when time allows i will be checking in to see what everyone is up to. Enjoy each day of our short summer!

My girlfriend is also arriving tomorrow evening from New Brunswick, (which is about a 12 hour drive to us) she will only stay one night and head off to spend time with her mom. However we will still have a bit of time for chit chat. Im hoping things will slow down a bit after this weekend so i can catch up on all your blogs, i really miss you all and i don't like missing what you are up to. Do you have a get away spot?

When life gets crazy and we (dh and I) just need to get away from all the craziness, this is the spot we retreat to, its only a few minutes from our home. We just sit in the car staring out into the water, sometimes we will hardly even talk, other times we will have a much needed uninterupted chat or we will sit here and enjoy a burger. No phones, no tv, no doorbell, and no teenagers...............oh how peaceful!!!! can't you just feel the serentity? What do you like to do when you need some peace?

55 DOLLAR MAKEOVER...CABINET PAINTED!!!

I HAVE WORKED ON THIS TV NOOK FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS AND AFTER MANY DIFFERENT STANDS AND TRIES, IT JUST NEVER FELT RIGHT. THEN I HAD A VISION ON HOW I WANTED IT TO LOOK, I STUCK WITH MY VISION AND FOR ONCE I FEEL I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN MAKING MY TV NOOK A PRETTY AREA. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT THE FIRST AREA YOU SEE WHEN ENTERING THE ROOM, IT IS A FOCAL POINT FROM MOST SEATING IN THE ROOM. AFTER SEEING SILVIA USING WALL PAPER TO DO A FEATURE WALL, I KNEW I HAD TO PAPER AN ACCENT WALL. I COULD'NT DO SOMETHING BOLD OR BUSY WITH THE TV IN FRONT AS I FEEL IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO DISTRACTING, IM HAPPY WITH MY PAPER CHOICE, HARD TO SEE IN PICTURES BUT IT HAS THREE COLORS, GREY, CREAM AND GOLDISH YELLOW TREES. We were driving down the street and I spied this at a yard sale, that we almost drove right on by. The woman was asking 12 dollars but told me i could take it for 10 dollars......YES 10 DOLLARS!!!!, how could i refuse that deal. It is in good shape, and the inside of the doors are wicker. I have no idea how old this is or what it was originally used for. I have visions of it being painted in a nice cream color and new hardware. I also think it would make a nice tv stand. Before i put my hands on it, i am open to ideas. Im so excited i can hardly wait to bring it into the house.

SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

My show and tell isnt exactly a treasure, its more of a confession I LOVE PINK!!!! (well certain pinks) First i changed the picture above the sofa, (see before pics in post below) for a lighter airey feel that im craving, and hidden in my stash of pillows were these two pinkish/coral pillows just waiting for me to give them a spot. I must admit i bought them for the color. Yesterday i decided to place them on the sofa and i must admit i really dont mind them there at all and no complaints from the dh..lol They are not dusty rose as the pictures show and my intentions were/are is to add some embellishment to them so there is some pattern, just havent figured out what to do, im not the most creative person. So that is my show and tell.

BAD kitty!

Does your cat check out every change in your home? My real flowers had seen thier day, so to fill the jug i added some fakes (my favorite type of flower) and some sticks until such time i add some fresh flowers again. The next thing i know there is missy cat sitting on the table checking them out. She normally doesnt lounge on our table, but cats just have a cheeky way that seem to say, "i can do as i so desire" because im queen of this house.

I WAS ASKED TO POST THE KITCHEN ONCE THE ADDITIONAL CABINETS WERE INSTALLED. THE PANTRY THAT ONCE LIVED BESIDE THE FRIDGE NOW RESIDES AT THE END OF THE COUNTER WHERE THE DROP DOWN CUPBOARD WAS THAT REALLY DIDNT SERVE US MUCH PURPOSE....WE THEN HAD THE KITCHEN DESIGNER INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL WORK SPACE AND STORAGE BESIDE THE FRIDGE. I AGONIZED OVER THIS MINI ADDITION TO THE KITCHEN BUT NOW THAT ALL IS SAID AND DONE, WE LOVE IT, THE KITCHEN IS FAR MORE PRACTICAL AND SO EASY TO WORK IN. BEFORE AND AFTER PICS!!

AT LAST WE CAN MOVE ONTO PHASE #2....CURTAINS, ETC ETC DECOR

My sweetie and I met on January 13, 1978, i was fifteen and he seventeen. We were sweethearts and best friends and married on May 1, 1982. We now celebrate 27 years of marriage, three beautiful daughters that we are absolutely so blessed to have, considering we were told that we may never have children. Of course, like most marriages, we have been through many struggles but i feel these times are what has made our marriage what it is today. These beautiful flowers were given to me by my sweetheart in celebration of 27 years of marriage. Love you always darling!

Well it sure has been a busy week around here, and i have alot of catching up on everyones blogs, Im sure i have missed so many great post. Our oldest daughter is leaving for college in September. So we spent a day away touring the college. Its a happy time for her and we are so proud of her, she isnt gone yet and im already missing her, its difficult realizing that she is not going to walk through that door at the end of the school day with her two younger sisters. However, i know its another phase in life, and with some adjustment we will fly with the changes. My husband threw his back out last weekend, so he has been home from work and i have been doing my best to keep things together around here. Do we have any New Yorkers? our second daughter left yesterday morning along with other school mates for New York City, a four day trip filled with so much excitement, broadway shows, visiting ground zero, working at a food bank, shopping and so many other great events. As much as you worry when they are not with you, im sure she is having the time of her life, and what a great opportunity! Of course i just happen to be browsing kijiji, anyone not familier its like Craigslist. Oh my gosh, i had seen a table and chairs some years back, (cant remember where) loved the round backs and design and would often talk about these chairs and telling my sister that i felt they would be perfect in this house but never to see them again. WELL...much to my surprise the other night i seen this add on the kijiji website, YES! the table and chairs i always liked, my sister called the woman right away (im not good at this kijijij thing) lol The woman explained she became a widow about 12 years ago and purchased the set about 8 years ago, her children are grown so it was just her using the set. She is now downsizing and that is her reason for selling..............8 years old!!! absolutely in excellent condition. Some may think dated, or passe after 8 years...NOT ME!!! i love them just like i did when i seen them years back, call me crazy but in my opinion because i love them the set is timeless. I know the way im talking, you likely would expect something out of this world, and i do realize to most they are not out of this world but it doesnt take much to thrill me, as you can see. In the pictures you will see that we had the expresso set which i felt just didnt fit this kitchen, and nothing loss as my niece is taking it for her unniverity appartment. By the way the additional cabinets have not been installed yet, still waiting for the guy to call. Hope all is doing well, have a good day!

WISHING EVERYONE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!

I do plan to get out this weekend as im hearing the weather is suppose to be nice. However, we are doing a bit in our kitchen, when we bought this new build just under two years ago there wasnt enough counter or storage. So we have ordered a couple of cabinets to give us a bit more of a workspace and storage. The room is very long but also very narrow which has made things even more difficult, if we had factored in a island right from the start it would have worked with a small one attached to where the dishwasher is but we didnt, so that would mean ripping everything apart and starting over, well we all know budgets these days, its just not going to happen. The end of the cupboard where dishwasher is, will change and the wall with the fridge is will also take a change and im SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKED hoping that this guy who is doing it, is right about what he has suggested. THE IDEA IS TO MOVE PANTRY TO WHERE DROP DOWN CUPBOARD IS, THE DROP CUPBOARD MAY OR MAY NOT STAY, SLIDE FRIDGE OVER A FEW INCHES AND ADD A BASE AND UPPER CABINET.....EEEK! THIS IS THE PART THAT SCARES ME, I HAVE MADE MY OWN MOCK UP AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURE, no expert by any means...lol This is how you see the kitchen now, as you can see no personal touches YET and hopefully when i post again its going to be with good news that all went well.........uggg! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

A TOUCH OF GREEN

HOUSE PLANTS AND I DONT MIX FOR A COUPLE OF REASONS, I HAVE NO PLACE TO KEEP THEM AND WHENEVER I HAVE ONE IN MY CARE IT GOES FROM BEING THIS LUSH BEAUTIFUL LIVING THING TO A DROOPY YELLOW BROWN LIFELESS SAD PLANT. SO VICKY THIS ONE IS FOR YOU, HAAAAAA! ITS FAKE GREENERY, SORRY COULDNT RESIST..LOL (ALL IN FUN G/F) YOU KNOW I LUV YA. HOWEVER, I HAVE FOOLED EVERYONE WITH THIS GREENERY, OR THEY ARE JUST BEING TOO NICE (EVEN MY CAT) SHE TRIED TO CHEW IT. THIS END TABLE NEEDED SOMETHING BESIDES JUST THE LAMP BUT ITS THE MOST USED END TABLE IN THE LIVING ROOM SO I NEEDED TO KEEP IT SIMPLE. OH AND THIS PLANT HAS A NAME "VICKY" ISNT THAT AN ADORABLE NAME. HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND!!!

OH MY, i think im hooked!! another drum stool...BEFORE AND AFTER!!!

I had to bring this home and give it new life. It was on clearance so i got it for a steal. I knew when i had seen it, that this baby wasnt staying black. The before pic actually looks worse as my husband had just begun to spray it.
For now its in our bedroom, i wasnt sure if i like the flowers on top or if i should just leave it with nothing. However, my vision of it being painted white turned out as i had hoped.

PEARS ANYONE???

I found these carved wood painted pears (at least i think thats what they are made of) and the leaf is metal. I felt they were rather nice for a dollar each, and i liked the shape of the glass tray which was 2 dollars at the dollar store. A total of 5 dollars gave me what i think is a rather nice accessory for the kitchen, now i just need to find a spot for it.

SO THE BLACK AND WHITE ONE WENT BACK AND I BROUGHT HOME THIS BLUE/GREEN ONE, AND I LOVE IT! ON MY MONITOR IT LOOKS MORE BLUE BUT IN REAL LIFE ITS REMINDS ME OF A RETRO SOFT BLUE/GREEN COLOR. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT THE TOP IS LARGER AND FLATTER. IT SITS BESIDE MY CHAIR, SO I WILL LIKELY JUST ADD A FEW OF MY FAVORITE MAGAZINES ON TOP. Do you ever have a home decor item that you must have? (i think i most likely have a list) I have wanted a drum stool for what seems like forever. This one caught my eye, they are the neatest thing, and multifunctional too, can be used for extra seating, a side table or just to admire. They also come in many patterns, shapes and colors. It was spring break here and we normally take the girls away for the day to shop and this was my treasure that i brought home....im so thrilled with my new find.

Im actually sad to say that the spring break is coming to an end, the girls will be back to school monday and hubby back to work.

im not sure how to get everything right for this Met Monday but here is my attempt...still have to get the butterfly here....so please bare with me or i will take your guidance.

THIS IS WHERE YOUR AFTER IS WORSE THAN BEFORE...HELP!!!!

I have this rather unattractive chair, BUT it must stay and i much prefer it in this spot, i dont use the other furniture in the living room as i have difficulty rising from furniture, so this brown chair is a lift chair. So i was wanting to put my cabinet back in this spot like it was in the first picture, trying to make a focal point as its the first wall you see coming into our home.

As you will see in the pictures the mirror needs to move over and be centred above the cabinet, BUT AND ITS A BIG BUT i think the wall will look odd as it will have this big bare spot off to the left of the cabinet. I can't put a plant there like my before picture, which balanced things, i need the space behind my chair for it to recline AND the cabinet cant slide over any further or my chair wont work.

Should i just forget it and remove the cabinet, any suggestions would be welcomed. Oh and there is no other floor plan i can do, tried them all and this one works best

IS THERE ANY HOPE? bahhhha wahhhhhha

Just Couldnt Resist...Too Cute

With this forever changing livingroom of mine, i think i finally realized what i love, want and need from this room..............SERENE, CALM AND PEACEFUL. Escpecially with the ongoing stress that lurks under this roof. I think i knew this all along, but just kept fighting it, i love red, orange or other vibrante colors but when i use them, they dont work for me emotionally...does that make sense? When i add soft and pretty, like the flowers below, i feel so relaxed. Now that being said, i like to mix soft and pretty with medium to dark peices of furniture, or sephia pictures framed in black and white frames, pehaps it may be deemed wrong in the design world, but it feels right in my world and i have decided that its okay. Our sofa is a moss green color, so i intend to add soft blues, greens and creams as those colors make me laugh, and of course my zebra print stool will be in the mix. So i saw these candle holders and candles, i just couldnt resist....love the colors and gotta love the bird. I havent removed the wrapper yet and still need to decide where im putting them, but will post when they are in their new home.

A LITTLE BIT OF SPRING

I do realize that its only Febuary, but i needed a little something to take away the winter blahs, and what better than some flowers. So i added a little softness to the end table, makes me smile when i walk into the room. For me, flowers mark the beginning of a new season, and an end to a long cold season.

Terri (my sister's mother inlaw) has been called home this morning, the Lord knew she had been asking and we feel he answered her prayers, there is no suffering in the hands of the Lord.
